Estate Clean-Up and Fly-Tipping Action
Bloomsbury EMB is continuing to work hard to tackle fly-tipping across our estate and keep our neighbourhood clean and tidy for residents.
We are currently carrying out an estate-wide clean-up, focusing particularly on known hot-spot areas. Our team is also working through pathways, parking areas and communal spaces to remove weeds, built-up litter and other waste.
This work will continue across the estate over the coming weeks as we aim to improve the appearance of our neighbourhood and make our shared spaces cleaner and more pleasant for everyone.
We would also like to remind residents that fly-tipping is not only unsightly but places additional pressure on the resources available to maintain the estate. We appreciate everyone's support in helping us keep Bloomsbury clean.

As you may be aware, Nechells has been selected to receive £20 million of investment over the next ten years through the Government's Pride in Place programme.
This is a fantastic opportunity for local people to work together to build on the area's strengths, address local challenges and create lasting improvements that reflect what matters most to the community.
At the heart of Pride in Place is a commitment to ensuring that residents help shape the decisions that affect their neighbourhood. The knowledge, experience and ideas of local people are essential in identifying priorities, developing solutions, and creating a stronger, more connected Nechells for everyone.
We are now seeking 10 passionate residents and respected community leaders to join the Nechells Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board.
As a Board Member, You Will:
- Help shape the vision and priorities for Nechells.
- Work with residents, community organisations, and public services.
- Ensure community voices are heard in decision-making.
- Influence how Pride in Place funding is invested locally.
- Champion positive change within your neighbourhood.
- Promote fairness, inclusion, and participation.
Who Can Apply?
- You must be aged 18 or over.
- You must live or work within the Nechells Pride in Place area.
- No previous board or governance experience is required.

Commitment
- The role is voluntary and part-time.
- Meetings are expected to take place monthly during the development of the Neighbourhood Plan and at least four times a year thereafter.
- Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed where required.

Who Are We?
Bloomsbury EMB (Estate Management Board) is a tenant management organisation in Nechells, Birmingham, managing approx 610 social housing properties on behalf of Birmingham City Council. We have a management agreement in place with Birmingham City Council in order to deliver services to our Tenants. This includes ‘Neighbourhood Services’ and ‘Technical and Estate Services’.
Where are we?
Our offices are based on the Ground Floor of Medway Tower, Cromwell Street, B7 5BG. All staff are based here including our Customer Service Desk.
History:
Bloomsbury EMB was the first Estate Management Boards set up in England, established in 1989. When the UK Government introduced the 'Right to Manage' regulations in 1994, the EMB wanted to use these to take formal responsibility for running the estate, but it took until 2000 to take on these powers through the negotiation of a formal management agreement.
