Dear residents,
Following this week’s water outage at Medway/Severn and Thames Tower.
Please see below update from Bloomsbury EMB and statement from Birmingham City Council.
Bloomsbury EMB received a petition yesterday. We will take the appropriate action as requested and keep you all involved of the steps going forward.
Going forward with there will be a meeting with the organisers of the petition, BCC, EMB representatives, Equans, Councillor Lee Marsham and the Management Team. Time and date to be agreed.
Residents living in the affected blocks will receive a full response from BCC next week at some point.
Bloomsbury acknowledge this has been an extremely difficult week to those effected by the water loss.
Please see below holding response from Birmingham City Council.
On behalf of Birmingham City Council’s Repairs and Maintenance team and our contractors, we sincerely apologise for any distress and inconvenience caused by the recent disruption to the water supply at your properties and thank all residents for their patience.
While day-to-day management is overseen by Bloomsbury Estate Management, Birmingham City Council remains responsible for maintaining the incoming water supply to all tower blocks and we thank Bloomsbury TMO for their support through this incident.
A comprehensive review is currently underway between Birmingham City Council, the repair contractors, and Bloomsbury Estate Management to fully understand the circumstances surrounding the incident and Birmingham City Council will be writing to each resident individually in due course to provide a detailed explanation of the events.
Bloomsbury Estate Management Board
Bloomsbury EMB (Estate Management Board) is a tenant management organisation in Nechells, Birmingham, managing approx 650 social housing properties on behalf of Birmingham City Council. We have a management agreement in place with Birmingham City Council in order to deliver services to our Tenants. This includes ‘Neighbourhood Services’ and ‘Technical and Estate Services’.
Our offices are based on the Ground Floor of Medway Tower, Cromwell Street, B7 5BG. All staff are based here including our Customer Service Desk.
Bloomsbury EMB was the first Estate Management Boards set up in England, established in 1989. When the UK Government introduced the 'Right to Manage' regulations in 1994, the EMB wanted to use these to take formal responsibility for running the estate, but it took until 2000 to take on these powers through the negotiation of a formal management agreement.
